A Legacy of Gemstone Mastery Started from Ceylon Dutch Fort Galle
Velos traces its origins to the historic Galle Fort in Sri Lanka, where our uncle, Mr. Ranjit, established a renowned gemology business. His showroom and laboratory were a cornerstone of the gem trade, offering services such as gemstone testing, cutting, polishing, and jewelry manufacturing. Known for his expertise, he also specialized in high-end gemstone testing, heat treatments, and faceting rough stones into breathtaking masterpieces.
A New Generation of Expertise
In 2018, inspired by Mr Ranjith De Silva's extraordinary craftsmanship and commitment to quality, my brother and I began our own journey into the world of gemology. We completed Diplomas in Gemology from the National Gem and Jewellery Association of Sri Lanka and gained hands-on experience in gemstone faceting and geode heat treatments. These skills, combined with our uncle’s legacy, laid a strong foundation for our work.
Rebranding the Legacy
In 2023, we migrated to London to pursue higher education and reimagined Mr. Ranjit’s business for a global audience. As we rebranded the company into Velos, we retained the essence of its heritage while introducing a modern approach to jewelry and gemstone craftsmanship.

In addition to my finance qualifications, I hold a Certificate in Gemology, which reflects my interest in specialized industries such as precious stones and luxury markets. My experience at KPMG Sri Lanka and D. Samson & Sons has shaped my expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, and performance improvement.
